UPDATE 4/03: Penny has been adopted! Thank you to everyone who helped make her second chance possible. We wish you a happy, healthy life from now on, Penny!

UPDATE: Penny had her surgery on 3/31 and she is doing very well. During surgery, her hernia was repaired and she was also spayed. Penny and the entire staff want to thank everyone for their support, well wishes and prayers. Now she just needs prayers for a speedy recovery and to be back to playing like a little pup should. Penny will be available for adoption soon; interested applicants are asked to submit our Adoption Pre-Screen Form.

We also want to thank everyone who has donated toward her medical expenses. Your support is, as always, deeply appreciated. However, we are still about $2,000 short of being able to cover the full cost of Penny’s surgery. We struggle to ensure that funds are always available to care for animals in need, and Joe’s Fund has taken a big hit with the cost of Penny’s care. Your donations to Joe’s Fund can help us keep helping animals just like Penny. If you can spare even a few dollars, every little bit helps. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts and paws!

Sweet little Penny needs your prayers and support. Only nine weeks old, she was surrendered to Hillside because she is in urgent need of veterinary care. Unfortunately, her condition will require surgery. Penny is suffering from a large hernia which must be surgically repaired before her intestine begins to strangulate. Without this repair, Penny’s condition would deteriorate rapidly and she would likely not survive. Thankfully, it appears that she was brought to us in time, and her lifesaving surgery has been scheduled to take place at an emergency veterinary hospital.

The Hillside staff is committed to seeing Penny have the happy and healthy life she deserves, but her treatment will be costly. The current estimate for her care comes to about $3,000, which will be covered by Joe’s Fund, our special veterinary fund which depends upon the generosity of our wonderful supporters to allow us to keep helping animals like Penny. Please, if you would consider a donation of any size to Joe’s Fund to help us cover the cost of Penny’s care, it would be greatly appreciated. Donations can be made quickly and securely right here on our website. Thank you so very much, from Penny and all of the dogs and cats at Hillside.
