Poor sweet little Hope needs Our HELP. She has a massive lipoma (fatty growth) that takes up most of her back leg. It is apparent that it has been there for quite some time. Walking is possible yet challenging for her. Due to the size and severity of the mass, it will need to be removed by an orthopaedic surgeon.
Scheduled to be removed. X-rays have already been done and have been sent. This will be a very involved surgery. Drainage tubes will need to be put in to place and she will be in the hospital for several days.
We cannot imagine the discomfort poor Hope is in. We can only “hope,” (pun intended) that after this is all said and done, she will live a pain-free life and understand not all humans are neglectful.
Hope is just 1 of 4 dogs Hillside rescued from a local home last week. There was also a rescued turtle. Sadly, one turtle was already deceased in its tank. The conditions of the home were uninhabitable for humans or animals. In addition to Hope’s mass, other dogs have conditions including long, embedded toe nails, fleas, dirty coats, and large masses likely a result from an autoimmune type reaction to Lyme disease. Further diagnostics such as aspirations and bloodwork have been done on one dog that we are calling, “Georgia.” Another of the dogs walks with great difficulty — her knees turned outward. All very, very difficult to see and handle. The sheer neglect is overwhelming and heartbreaking to say the least.
Hope’s surgery will cost a minimum of $1,800 and will be covered by Joe and Caroline’s Fund. This vital fund is supported by donations from the public and any donation, or any size, is deeply appreciated and will go toward keeping The Fund available for animals in desperate need like Hope and her friends.
