We adopted Fresco on Nov. 19, 2007. He is a very special dog who has become my best friend. I'm not sure how we ever lived without a dog in our house. It would seem so empty if he wasn't there. He loves going for walks, car rides, and visiting with his Nanny and Pop Pop who have two golden retrievers. Ginger is older, but Nutmeg is only 1 year old and she and Fresco love to run and play together. God bless you for all you do and I pray that you will be able to stay open. P. S. Fresco would like to say thank you to all of the volunteers and workers at the shelter for taking such good care of him after he was brought there.

I am amazed at the response you have gotten from so many people and although I did not donate. I plan on coming up with my children and adopting a dog as soon as my work schedule permits.

So happy for the animals that your doors are staying open. You all are to be commended for your hard work and dedication. I grew up in Pottsville and so you are near and dear to my heart for that and for being no-kill. Here's to continued success!

I hope my donation can help prevent the shelter from closing. I adopted two amazing kittens from Hillside a little over a year ago (Sal and Sally now known as Kate & Sawyer). They have become the most lovable, playful cats with just amazing personalities. I call them my little dogs because they greet me at the door when I come home and also come running when I call their names. I can't imagine life without them. I am so thankful that Hillside rescued them and I hope they can continue to save animals and adopt them out so they can bring joy into the hearts of their new owners everyday- just like Kate and Sawyer do for me! Thank you Hillside SPCA and I will keep you in my prayers!!

I just read the Republican/Herald article about the dire straits of this shelter. I grew up in Pottsville and I know this is a clean, well-run facility. The animals need us. Please, please try to donate even a little $ to save the pets!!! (In case you're wondering, yes, I donated!)

I hope my donation and the donations of others help to keep this shelter going. We adopted a dog from a collie rescue last year that was originally dropped off at Hillside. Her name is now Mocha and she is our family's best friend!

Thanks for all that you do for the animals. I love the fact that you are a no kill shelter. That's the way they all should be. I have been trying to help out with your current troubles. Please let everyone know ASAP if you'll be able to stay open.

I saw the story about the shelter on WBRE news tonight. I was sorry to hear that the Hillside SPCA is in danger of closing due to funds. I hope my small donation helps. Thank you for all the work you do in rescuing homeless and abused animals!

I saw the article about the society being in trouble. I hope what I was able to donate helps to keep your doors stay open. The last kitten I had adopted from a shelter had been scheduled to be euthanized if a home wasn't found for her ASAP. She has grown from an insecure little kitten to the most loving pet imaginable.

While I'm not able to adopt a pet because I'm a renter. I want to support the local animals in my area. The work you folks do there is genuinely appreciated. As an animal lover I want to personally thank each of you for your hard work and dedication to our forgotten animals. Know your work is not in vein. Thank you from the bottom of my heart and I'm sure if the animals could talk, they'd thank you too. Keep up the good work.

We adopted May, a black lab from Hillside, 2 years ago (March 2006). She will be 3 this July. I don't know what we ever did without her. She is loved so much, and shows us so much love in return. Did I mention spoiled? She got more presents at Christmas from extended family members than we did!! She loves peanut butter (and just about anything else that is edible), her queen size bed (which happens to be ours!), rides in the car (except to the vet!), and playing ball (watch out, she'll knock you over to get it first). So thanks to Hillside for calling us about her. Keep up the good work!

Thank you Barb for rescuing her that day from the car.Our lives truly were blessed to have her in it.Keep up the good work that all of you do

My heart breaks for the poor animals found in Auburn. Why oh Why did the woman not call for help before things got that bad? How could she ignore the meows of the cats. I am so saddened by this story. I am sure this puts a terrible financial burden on the shelter. I just made a small donation tonight and i hope others do too!!

I grew up in Auburn, but now live in Bellingham, WA. I still read the Pottsville newspaper everyday, and read about what you're doing for the neglected cats that were found in Auburn. Thank you for your kindness to those poor animals.

I got my miniature poodle at your shelter last May and he is definitely my best friend! I am very impressed by your shelter and I love that the dogs can run free. When I first came to look for a dog, it was nice to see all the dogs running up to the door to greet me. Keep up the good work. You are the very best shelter in the entire area.
