It is hard to believe that is has been two years since "Alue" joined my family. Alue was one of the 21 dogs rescued on Easter 2004. She was one of the dogs in the worst condition mentally and physically. In two years, it is hard to believe it is the same dog! She went from 7pounds to 15, went from shaking, crouching and hiding dog to a tail wagging, "dancing", jumping and begging friend to everyone. I also adopted a second dog from Hillside "Emily" (know known as Kiwi) she is always on the go (which means it is impossible to put weight on) and doing wonderfully. All of the dogs get along, and I encourage any one to look at and adopt dogs (or cats) from shelters. The ones with problems are often the most rewarding to own. I want to thank Hillside for not giving up on any animal! Thanks again from Alue and Kiwi (Emily)

Thank you so much for allowing my family and I the great pleasure of adding Liberty and Justice to our lives. We adopted these little bundles of joy on Dec 3rd and they have since become cherished members of our family. We are so blessed to have found such playful, affectionate, and beautiful kittens. It was a lifelong dream of mine to have the opportunity to lavish a kitten with the love and attention they deserve, and now these little sisters have completely captured my heart. We appreciate all that you do to better the lives of animals in need and we are so very glad to have helped these two. Thanks again!

In August 2005 we came to the SPCA looking for a small dog to adopt and instead became attached to and adopted a female black lab mix puppy. She didn't have a name so the kids were excited because not only were they were able to give her a loving home but a name. So she was named Shadow and let me tell you the name fits her perfectly!! She follows you wherever you go and you cannot leave a room without her being right behind you. She is doing great and we love her greatly and are glad to have adopted her and have her in our home.

Just wanted to give everyone an update on Coda (adopted Nov. 2002) and Charlie (adopted August 2003) - Both very big black and white mutts. They are best of buds and absolutely adore and cherish my 5 year old boy (who loves them as much back.) Our three kitties - Oreo (adopted through your placement with Gulf station in Orwigsburg 5 years ago), Cookie (adopted through you when he was in hospital at Mtn Shadow - 3 years ago) and Double Stuff (stray - who found us last November)all get along great and all love to play. I saw your female Oreo in the paper and my son wanted to bring her home with us - I love this about him and it's so hard to explain that we're "maxed out" on space right now and need to be able to spend time with who we have. Thanks to all of you who possess the ability to do what you do - my heart breaks in pieces everytime I visit and I can't imagine what your hearts must go through.God Bless.

Just wanted to give an update on the wonderful cats that I was so lucky to adopt from Hillside. Sophie (fna Sophia), Cassey (fna Birdie), Carley (fna Candy) are all doing just wonderful. They have become such great cats and I wouldn't know what to do without them. I adopted Bella at the same time with Carly, but she passed away on June 24th due to FIP. She was such a beautiful cat and I was so fortunate to have been adopted by her. I was with her when she passed and so glad that I made it to the vets in time to be with her. I don't think there is anything sadder than an animal dying alone. I have adopted two other cats but not from Hillside. So I now have a total of seven furry kids running around. They all pretty much get along but they have their moments when there is a conflict. Please if you have the room, adopt an animal from Hillside. They do so much for these animals. They deserve nothing but the best. Helen, the girls say HI!! Come by and see them some time.

I love to work with animals and you have done a great job of taking care of the animals. I will continue supporting your cause to help feed and what ever else I can donate. God Bless all of you. I would like to work there someday. I have had dogs all my life and have two dogs at present and I would be lost without them, They are my children. I treat them like they were human. They give so much more love and attention then some humans do.

I would just like to thank the kind, wonderful people at the shelter for all the help they gave me when I went up there one week ago looking to add a new member to our family. We adopted the sweetest little Jack Russel mix by the name of Charlie. The name stuck and so did Charlie after we had him over night for a visit. Everyone loves him he is being pampered like you will not believe. Charlie is my sons shadow and gets so excited when I look at him and grab his leash and say " lets go get Jordan, Charlie." He prances around the living room and his tail goes a mile a minute. The welcome my son gives Charlie when he gets off the bus is so cute and Charlie returns the love with tail wagging and licks. I am so glad that I adopted Charlie. He is a great doggie who has brought more joy into our home than I could have imagined. Thank you again so much for helping me find the perfect dog for my family.

MORE FROM TROOPER, The Wonder Dog" (formerly know as Gypsy. She went to see her (favorite ?) people today. She had her yearly check-up and shots. She loves the people at Blue Mountain, but doesn't care for the treatment. Everything is good, except for some worms. She has always had problems with them. She appears to draw them like a magnet. Dr Truesdale gave her medication to get rid of them, and they don't seem to bother her at all. My son's dog is still here and they are always busy playing. Trooper spotted a Golden Eagle today, during her walk. It was awesome! Of course Trooper wanted to make friends, but the Eagle wasn't very anxious to meet her. We watched it eat some prey it caught, then it flew east, towards Hawk Mountain. I guess it got lost. The 14th of this month marks Trooper's first anniversary, and she has slowly worked her way into our hearts. This is a truly remarkable dog, and I thank Hillside for adopting her to us. Nothing more to report, except Trooper is still on the diet. She is down to 77.4 lbs, with a target weight of 75.0 lbs. Thanks again Hillside, and we'll be over to visit soon.

A special thanks to my Hillside SPCA friends for bringing another joy into my life. I was lucky enough to have the privilege of adopting Jake, the Weimeraner. Jake now has four other playmates, Ruby (my ten year old Hillside lab), Sam (my two year old Hillside Lab), Buddy (my chocolate Lab) and Gyspy (my Hillside mixed lab). I urge all to ADOPT instead of purchasing from a breeder or pet store. Adopted animals have a never-ending, special kind of love to offer and will repay your kindness ten fold. Again, many thanks to Hillside's angels of mercy, who belive all living things are precious in their own right.

I adopted the cutest little Beagle/lab puppy. We absolutely love him to pieces. We go for nightly walks, providing it isn't raining. He walks very well on a leash. I want to thank you all for being so nice and so helpful when I arrived wanting to adopt a little buddy. He will be attending puppy class next month and we just want you to know that he is happy and healthy and being taken care of and spoiled. He is certainly a joy in our lives. Thank you all so much. Trish you were great.

I would like to thank Hillside for being there. We have two doggy adoptees and they make our lives so complete, a bit crazy, but very happy. Strider (formerly Ricky Martin) came to us in Dec 2003 after the sudden loss of our beloved dog Sierra. He is loving and affectionate with our family and our four cats. On May 22/2005 we brought Coady into our lives (formerly Sparky). He adds a lot of excitement to our home and is also deeply loved. Strider & Coady are inseparable and play together until they knock themselves out. Thank you Hillside for adding to our family. We love them and cannot imagine our lives without them.

I adopted Lacey (tan and white cocker spaniel) in February. I just wanted to let you know that she is doing great! She has gained a little weight, gotten rid of an ear infection that she had when I got her, and stolen my heart! I do not know what I would do without her. She is the perfect match for my other dog. I even made a website all about her!

Trooper ran across one of her former caregivers from Hillside the other day, and encouraged us to visit. Trooper was thrilled to visit and see her friends, but was relieved to get back into her truck to come home. Jeanine was excited as always, but she slips and calls her Gypsy. As far as getting along with other dogs, Trooper is doing better. My son and his wife are visiting from California, and they brought their 2 yr old Golden Retriever. The initial meeting was a bit shaky, but they are getting along just fine. I think Trooper gets a little tired from the youngster, but other than that, they act just great together. We separate them when we all go out, and I really don't see this as necessary, but just in case. Trooper has Madison (the retriever) barking at all the neighborhood dogs that need barking at, and showing her the Pennsylvania wildlife (rabbits, chipmunks, squirrels, etc) that need to be chased and kept in check. Again Trooper is amazing with her adaptability to changing situations. A truly wonderful dog.

Hi! Just wondering if someone out there could give poor Lucy a good home. She has been looking for quite a while, and if its because she is shy, my dog, Tobey, was shy but she came around with a little attention and love. Please someone consider adopting Lucy!!!

February 13,2005 we adopted two beautiful Irish Setters, unfortunately due to a great dominance of one brother we had to return him to you. My husband and I want to thank you all for keeping him on the dog of the month for a long time and trying to find him a home. His brother who we named Prince is doing excellent and thriving. We really regret having to return his brother but it was for the best interest of our best pal and our grandchildren. We hope Duke finds a forever home and we really miss him!! They are one year old this month!!

Last week we adopted Arbor (now known as Ming) from Hillside after donating some items and looking for my Mom's lost cat. Ming jumped onto my son Toryn's chest and laid on his shoulder and followed him everywhere. My son begged to keep him, I was concerned because Ming looked sick he had drainage from his eyes, but once we heard his story ( he lost his mom at 4 wks, was overloaded with vaccines and his growth may be stunted) he touched our hearts. The loving people at Hillside said they may have to start to euthanize cats due to overcrowding and we were afraid Ming may be one of them due to how he looked. After having Ming for three days Trish called to check on one of her favorite cats, I want everyone to know that we took Ming to the vet and he only had an eye infection which can flare up due to stress and after being in a stress free home with lots of love -- his eyes are clearing up and I have never met a more friendly lovable cat!! We didn't pick Ming (Arbor) he picked us. What a great feeling to know we saved such a beautiful little guy!
