I had rescued a Siberian Husky named Crystal from a neighbor who had her living outside even after she had puppies. I brought her to Hillside, who were kind enough to take her, in March 2005. I still wonder how she is and if she is finally happy, safe ,and warm at night. She was around 5 years old , blue eyes, and had a grey and white coat.

I just want to say you guys are doing an EXCELLENT job!!! Keep up the good work. I had referred some friends to you.
My one friend and her fiance adopted 2-3 cats from you the first time they visited your shelter on my referral. Then a few months later came back to your shelter to adopt 2 more cats and a dog. I have to say all the animals they adopted from you are doing well.
Then another friend of mine adopt a dalamation from you. She too is doing well.
I might be coming up to your shelter w/yet another friend. She's looking for a small dog to adopt.
Good Job to all of you at HillSide SPCA, Keep up the Great Work!!!!

We visit your site regularly and didn't realize you had a guestbook so I just wanted to drop a line and say Thank you so much for allowing us to bring Lullaby into our lives. July 2nd we will have her for a year and what a wonderful year it has been. We never asked when we adopted her but I can't image why someone would have parted with her. Their lost was our gain!!! Thank you again!!

I visited Hillside today with the hopes of adopting a dog. The dogs, yes plural, that I chose need to have further shots given, and at that time I can bring home my new family members! The facility was so well cared for as were the pets. I am very impressed and could not think of any reason not to advise friends and family that are in search for a life long companion not to go to Hillside. Thank you for making my decision easier.

Just wanted to say...Meeka is doing great, we love her and our border collie mix, Penny, (adopted 1 1/2 years ago) is so happy to have a big sister. To everyone who is thinking of owning a pet, visit Hillside because there is someone waging their tail or purring just waiting for you to take them home to their forever home.

Just a note on TROOPER (formerly Gypsy). She is enjoying her role as my # 2 companion (wife is # 1). She is slimming down to 79 lbs, at the last weigh in. Dr Truesdale wants her to maintain 75 lbs. due to her missing leg. She doesn't care for the strick diet, but she never begs. She is such a wonderful dog. She goes nuts every morning when I get my shoes on, because she knows her walk is not far away. If we are not walking by 8:00 PM, she starts with the gentle hints. This dog has become spoiled! Everyone who visits falls in love with her gentle and loving personality. She is by far the best mannered dog I have ever associated with (I don't like the term "owned". Besides, sometimes I think she owns me). Time for her beauty shop appointment at Paw Prints.

I recently had to give my dog to the Hillside SPCA. She was our families baby. But do to certain circumstances in the near future we had to give her up. Her name is Cooper. She is such a doll. We love and miss her so much. But I wanted to let whoever adopts her to please love her as much as we do. And to give her a great home. She deserves it! Thank-you Hillside SPCA for making our loss a little easier.

Seven years ago, I adopted my first dog from the SPCA. Ruby, a black lab mix quickly claimed my heart. My second adoption was Gypsy, a lab/terrier mix. Gypsy has personality galore. To round off the family, I adopted Sam the chocolate lab. Along with already having Buddy, a chocolate lab, and a house full of neighborhood kids, life is never dull. I urge you, with all my being, to adopt instead of purchasing from a pet shop. Shelter pets are waiting to share their life with someone and the care you give them will come back ten fold. Also, the volunteers from Hillside have an invisible set of wings and will certainly have a direct path to Heaven. They truly are amazing individuals. Thanks again for my adopted family.

I adopted Kasper a little over a year ago and he has been nothing except excitment and fun. He has definately gotten big since I got him. He is a very curious cat but doesn't partically like to mouse. But often times I think he seems lonely, so shortly we will be back to pick him a buddy!

Two years ago my boyfriend and I strayed in to Hillside in search for a companion cat. It didn't take long for a shittish long-haired torti known as "Freckles" (now known as "Nightowl") to steal our hearts. We were told that she was brought into the shelter with another cat that didn't survive, both the victims of neglect. It took a long time for us to earn Nightowl's trust, but we feel she has finally found genuine comfort amongst us and her two feline friends. Every time I note the social progression Nightowl has made I can't help but think that the caring staff at Hillside was largely responsible for nurturing it. We thank everyone at Hillside SPCA for blessing us with this encouraging experience. Being able to interact with the cats in a comfortable environment proved to be immensely successful for all three of us. Nightowl thanks you most of all.

I adopted Daphne from Hillside in Sept. of 2003. I would like to let everyone know that she has a lovely new home since we moved out of an apartment to the house and she also now has a brother who is a white sheppard and lab mix named Lucky and also a ferret named Merlin. They all play nicely and have to be told that there is a speed limit in the house from time to time. The people were worried about the cat and the ferrit at the time of adoption but do not worry for the two of them play the most together. They all love each other and she is the best thing that I could have gotten there from you all. Thanks so very much from Daphne and her loving family

I can't believe it has been a year since Alue picked me to be her new mom. She was a terrified skinny little thing who wouldn't hardly move, now she does her little excited tap dance when she sees me, or a treat, or her leash, or another human friend. She still has a way to go to be a completely "normal" (what ever that means) dog. But I wanted to let everyone know that at least one of those 21 dogs rescued last Easter weekend, is doing wonderfully. Also her new friend Emily is doing beautifully, got her weight up to normal and spoiling her rotten, just like Alue. A third update is on "Sadie"(the older beagle mix who was had been a urgent apodtee)who my neighbor adopted. Sadie is now completely spoiled, and very loved. She had a medical scare a few days after being adopted, but nothing since then. She is living in the lap of luxury, no need to worry! Alue, "Emily" (AKA Kiwi), and Sadie all want to send a BIG THANKS to the staff at Hillside.

You guys at Hillside are the best. If it wasn't for your help, we wouldn't have our Misty (border collie mix) today. I am from Hazleton, and you were the only ones that would help us. If it weren't for loaning us the crate to capture her by my workplace,(we think someone dropped her off), we wouldn't have our sweetie today. Thanks again for all your help and keep up the good work.

Just a quick note to Hillside SPCA on "Sadie" ... the adorable 3 month old pup I adopted in January. Sadie is now "Lily" and despite her nervous and timid nature when I came to pick her up, she is now a spectacularly happy, lovable, playful growing puppy. She and her brother Casey take long walks, play endlessly in the yard, and have many friends at "puppy play group" at the park. I call her "Princess Lily of Powder Mill" and I just wanted you to know how happy we are to have her in our lives!

I wanted to thank the SPCA for all their hard work. We have 3 dogs and now 7 cats thanks to two trips up this weekend to the SPCA.
We adopted two cats...Charlie a little orange kitten and Kringle a smokey gray long haired kitten. They are both sweet as heck.
Helen, thank you for picking my son Matthew to adopt your Kringle. I want you to know that he will be loved unbelievably by that little boy. He cried on the way home b/c you picked him. You have no idea how much that meant to him. :)
Thanks again.

To the wonderful staff at the Hillside SPCA, Thank you, thank you, thank you for bringing a yellow lab named Sheeba into our lives. She is such a great joy to have in our family. After the death of our beloved Reba, to whom you also introduced us. Reba was 8 years old upon adoption and we had 3 loving years together. We certainly miss her, but we would like to tell the staff how grateful we are that you introduced to us a wonderful dog [Sheeba]. She is a great delight to have, loves the children and furry friends too! Thank you again and keep up the good work. If it weren't for you, our feline/ canine friends wouldn't have a chance in life. You give them life.

I just wanted all of you at Hillside to know that we read the article in the paper about the cats who were both severely frostbitten. It was horrifying and made me cry to think that people actually have no respect for a creature who only wants to live a happy and content life with us humans. I thank all of your staff for the work you do for all the animals. And for your devotion to them. It is so comforting to know that there is a place that they can be "safe" and cared for. My Nephew and I were at Hillside in December and he was soooo excited because he finally got permission from Mom and Dad to adopt a cat. He picked a beautiful little tigerstriped cat that you named Luna. They renamed her "Ruby". They were never really cat people before, but now she is the heart of their family. They love her dearly and are always calling me to tell me about her latest episode. I have a cat also, but am thinking about paying you a visit soon. So once again, I hope Stanton gets a good home and is happy forever. God Bless all of you.

We recently visited the shelter, I had every intention to get nothing but a longhaired cat, needless to say we left with 2 short hair boys that are great! They had a wonderful stay at the shelter but it really shows that they were ready for "home" Thank you all for taking such good care of these cats and dogs. You did a wonderful job with Willie and TiggerTiger.

I visit this website many, many times throughout the week. I think Hillside is an awesome place and you do a wonderful job! Honey-girl (whom I adopted from you last Mother's Day) sends her love and kisses (she's good at that!) to all of you! Maybe one of these days I'll be able to adopt again from you. God Bless You!!

My name is Katie O' Rourke from County Cork & I lived at hillide for a month or more My master Carl came up with his brother Ernie to see a Chihuahua mix. Luckily it was adopte the same day. When we met it was love at first sight. I'm a yellow mix of 85% or so of whippet & my head is beagle like. I was very loving & laid back & we seemed a perfect match for each other. Sadl Dad (Carl) found out that he was seriously allergic to me & would have to give me up if he couldn't find a remedy. His Drs put himon 30 mg. Prednesone for more than a month until he'd find a cure for his ailment. He was scheduled to take me back to Hillside on a sunday when his Dr called & recommended Intall (A new inhaler for dog dander.) Saved in the nick of time, it worked & we are the happiest canine/human do anywhere. When he comes home from work (he shortened his hours because of me) my "Welcome Home Dad" is something to behold & We love each other to distraction. Thank You so very much for the gorgeous little laid back darling you presented my master with (namely me) & thanks for socializing me so well with all the other animals in the shelter & most of all thanks for not euthanizing myself or my brothers & sisters. We owe you more than we can ever repay. Katie (herself)

if anyone out there knows who adopted Sadie please respond, id love to know how she is doing. i know max is near by, at least he was, havnt seen or heard about him in a while. i got sadie when she was a pup, she is a senior dog now and i worry about her, although she is a low maintance dog, i hope she is being loved. max on the other hand was more high strung, being a dali, but at least i know were he is. i know spca is very careful about who gets to adopt a pet and try their best to make a good match for owner and dog. i also want to again thank the staff for being so good to my babies while they were there. god bless you-all. love to sadie and maximus.

It's been almost a year since I adopted Zoe, formerly Banana. She is a very good dog for the most part and we still have some things to work on. She likes to jump up on the counter and take things out of the sink. She does get along very well with her two brother that were adopted from Hillside. Porter who was adopted in July of 2000 and Max who was adopted in April 1997. Zoe replaced my first female lab Ziggy who crossed the rainbow bridge on August 29, 2003.
Zoe also likes to look out my front window when I go out to the truck. Porter enjoys laying around the house and Max likes to lay in one of my chairs whenever he gets the chance.
