Happy two year adoption anniversary to our black lab mix, Fred. How wonderful to come home every day to the slurpies and love. We can't wait to take him shopping this weekend for some special new toys and of course a steak dinner!

First of all I would like to thank Helen who took care of our beloved bear and michael, when they passed. Now on to happier things a few weeks ago we adopted remus and roger{now named kuka and marcus}. 2 beautiful gray fat cats, who have just settled into this house liked they lived here for ever. Now megan who is also gray and it's driving my husband nuts because he can't seem to tell them apart, well she just thought she was the queen, and no one was coming into her space is doing fine with her new companions. We can't say playmates just yet but soon in a year or two HA HA just kidding. So thank you guys

Barbara, eight years ago I went to the SPCA looking for that special dog and you introduced me to Tye. He has been with us ever since and has been joined by Daisy. Hope the picture made you smile!

Just a note to update everyone on Gypsy, or now more appropriately named "Trooper". Since she has come into our household, she has made her mark. She is a wonderful companion and friend! She goes everywhere with me. She rides shotgun and reminds me everyday of her required ride. She bugs me every morning and evening of her needed walk to insure the neighborhood is secure. She is doing her part in guarding the house when she goes outside, and is getting along with the other dogs in the neighborhood. She has helped me cope with the loss of our 12 yr old Rotty, "Rosie", and doesn't get offended when I slip and call her Rosie. Friends are amazed that she is able to get around so well, and is a true inspiration to all of us with health disorders. She is well loved by everyone in the family, and has made our lives more enriched by "adopting us". Thanks again, Hillside!

I visit your website frequently to see your pets (mainly the dogs) and was glad to see so many were adopted! I have a dog and would love nothing more to adopt another, but space and financial constraints, along with a baby, do not permit me to do so at this time. Please know I support you at craft fairs, mall visits, etc. and hope to eventually volunteer when my baby gets a little bigger. I would enjoy time at the shelter to help walk and just be with the poochies (kitties too). Keep up the good work!

I just wanted to say what a wonderful event Hillside held on Saturday! The open house seemed to be a huge success! I frequently visit the web-site & noticed that many of the dogs now have "Adopted" above their pictures. This is heart-warming! I am a true animal lover & donate when-ever & what-ever I can. I adopted my dog & both my cats from Hillside & will never go anywhere else for my animals! Keep up the great work!!

I do not know who adopted "Gypsy" but "Thank You" for adopting her. I saw her listed here on the website and also in person at the Hillside and I prayed that she would find a home. She amazed me at how well she got along on three legs. She seemed like a great gal and you are a wonderful person for welcoming her into your home. I hope you bring each other great joy.

I wish someone would adopt Lucy, which is on your "special needs" website. She was an abused dog and really deserves a chance at a good home. Hopefully someone out there will see this!!! We hope the open house was successful today!

An update on Maggie, the 8 year-old Shih Tzu I adopted Oct 10....Maggie is doing well. She's a slower-moving and sometimes clumsy dog due to some arthritis and stiffness, but she's been to the vet and is on medicine for her arthritis. The meds are already helping. She walks around with her head up a lot more than she did several days ago. She must be happier and feeling better. She's getting lots of TLC. Maggie and my other dog Miles get along and no longer ignore each other. They venture much closer to each other now. Maggie went to the vet on Oct 12 and had her rabie shot, her stool sample checked, and her blood checked for Heartworms. All is well. She's on heartworm meds now once a month. She had a topical flea treatment on the 10th. On the 14th, she went to the groomers for a flea bath, a trim near her face and on her paws, and had her eyes cleaned. Much better! Maggie does not really liked to get groomed, but she is okay. The vet said Maggie is probably older than 8. She may be 10 or 11. It's hard to really know. My husband and I kind of thought she may be older, too. It's okay, though. Maggie is a great little dog - very nice and she loves to follow me around. She likes her fenced-in yard. She likes her blanket and her bed. She loves to sleep. She's eating better. All-in-all, I am so glad Maggie lives in my house. I hope she is with me for a long time and is comfortable and happy.

On October 10th, 2004, I adopted "Maggie" from Hillside. Maggie was at the shelter for about a week before I adopted her. She's a 8 year-old Lhasa Apso or possibly a Shih Tzu. No matter her breed, she's a great dog. I've had her only 3 days and she's wonderful. She seems to get along with my other dog Miles who is a poodle that I got from a breeder 9 years ago. The two dogs don't interact too much just yet, but so far so good. It's fun to learn Maggie's habits. She is eating pretty well and she sleeps very well. I gave her a bath the day I took her home. She did not enjoy the bath, but she liked the hairdryer and the brush. She won't let me trim near her face so I have to take her to get groomed soon. She has a vet appointment this afternoon and I'm anxious to hear about her health and what I can do to make her as healthy as possible. I'm so happy I adopted Maggie. I wanted a second dog and I needed one that didn't shed (because of allergies) and one that was small (because I prefer smaller dogs). And Maggie was perfect. She needed a home and now she's in a good home filled with lots of love and lots of good care.Best of luck to everyone who has adopted pets from Hillside. And best of luck to the pets that still need homes. The way I heard about Maggie is a cute story...if you're interested, let me know and I'll share it with you :-)

i really want to thank everyone who was so helpfull and understanding, when i had to leave my dogs, i loved them very much ,still do, but could not take them with me when i moved. i visit the site reguarly and noticed that max,the dali was adopted, hurarry!!! that makes me feel so good. now if only someone could find it in there hearts to adopt sadie, a senior dog, shes still there and she is very sweet,im sure shes missing max. i know she is getting the very best care though i had friends go up and they saw her. and they told me she was fitting right in. but she always had a home since she was a puppy and now does not. but again i know she is being treated well. thanks to all of you at the hillside spca,it was the hardest thing i ever had to do and knowing they would not be "put down" eased the pain. also watching you-all interacting with the dogs instead of just watching them. made me respect you-all so much. much love to all of you and you to sadie

To everyone@ Hillside SPCA, especially Trish M; Just wanted to say thanks for making our friend next door to us happy again! She was heart-broken over the loss of her black lab Jordan. She finally went to Hillside and came home w/ a husky called Keyko. She still pines for Jordan, but she's filled w/ happiness now that she has Keyko! Hillside has given her great joy! Keep up the great job you all do for those needy pets and for the lonely people that come to you!!

Several years ago we lost a wonderful dog Roscoe, he was adopted from a shelter in Texas "we were military" we had our wonderful friend for 12 years. He was our baby girls guardian. Under the crib every night. Sadly he became sick and there was very little we could do, and believe me we tried. We lost our sweetie on valentines day. After much crying and talking to a 4 year old we came to the hillside and got Morea. After a week we realized she didn't care for men.My husband wasn't alloud downstairs for work or any thing. Probably something in her past, she was wonderful with me and my daughter.Sadly she was returned. I came home that same time with Dusty "The funniest looking little terrier you ever did see" But what a sweetie, she sleeps with the girls every night, and walks around crying if Sarahs on a sleepover. Well it's been about 6 years now. And all is well. If at first you don't suceed try and try again.

I would just like to thank the folks at the SPCA for all of their hard work. A couple of months ago my boyfriend and I adopted Selma, a curious and loving cat. She has brought such joy to us. When we are able to adopt another pet we will definitely choose the Hillside SPCA. It was so hard to decide but we are both so blessed to have adopted Selma. Thank you all for your hard work and determination to get these animals into good, loving homes.

I would like to thank Hillside S.P.C.A. I adopted Friday French-Fry (beagle) back in Feb.2004. He was extremely shy and frightened when i got him, but now 6 months later he's finally coming out of his shell and becoming the silly little poochie I knew he would be. He's voicing his opinion very often with my other dog now and letting him know who's boss. He's often found lounging on my husbands chair when he's at work(he stole that spot from my other dog). He's just a wonderful dog and I wouldn't trade him for the world. Thanks a Million.

Today is a very sad day for our family. We have just returned from having to euthanize our beloved 11 year old dog, Toto, due to an abdominal tumor. We adopted this wonderful animal, from the Hillside SPCA, nearly 11 years ago. She very quickly became a much-loved member of the family. While I cannot imagine life without our Toto, I am comforted with the belief, that we will meet again at The Rainbow Bridge when we depart this earth. I am reminded of a saying I read many years ago."Joy she gave, joy she shall have." May God Bless the angels at the SPCA, who, day in, day out, care so lovingly for the animals.

I have 3 precious pound pups that I have adopted over the last 5 years. Scooby my lab and Juno my Eskimo both came from Hillside. They are beautiful, loving, well behaved purebreds. My friends who paid $100's for their dogs marvel at how wonderful mine are and all swear that they will let me pick their next dogs from the shelter. The third angel is a senior Eskimo that I adopted from another shelter. He was a filthy, matted mess and I adopted him because his picture on petfinder broke my heart. He's well into his teens and he's the most precious creature God has put on this earth. Don't let age scare you. He's been with me for 3 years and except for the need for annual dental cleanings he's been an easy keeper. After adopting these three guys as adults I'd never again want a puppy. Don't worry about bonding, it happens within hours. Please consider a Senior!

I am so happy I found the Hillside SPCA website a few weeks ago. We applied and adopted a dog named Buster who had just came in the day before we visited in August. He left with us that day and he's the perfect dog for my mother. She's much happier with her furry friend around now and I can't thank you enough for allowing us to adopt from you! I'm hoping to adopt a dog as well in the near future as my daughter gets just a bit older. To those who are still deciding whether or not to adopt, its a wonderful experience that I couldn't imagine anyone regretting.

My heart is broken. Miracle didn't deserve her fate. I just can't comprehend how cruel people can be and how sadly light the punishment will be for whoever is responsible for the abuse that poor horse endured. There must be a way to change the animal cruelty laws. Most of our politicians own animals, is it only for show? Where are their hearts? Thanks to everyone that donated their time and money to try to save Miracle. I only wish the outcome were not so terrible.

In 1994, my husband and I adopted 2 cats, Trouble and Baby. They have added so much to our lives and brought us more joy and laughter than we ever expected. We added Smokey in 2000 and although it is overwhelming at times, we feel blessed to have each of them in our family. Please consider adopting from the SPCA and, if you don't, SPAY or NEUTER your pet.
