My family adopted 2 lahso apso dogs named rosie and pearl, mother & daugther. They are so cute together. I am so glad we took the two of them and did not seperate them. They would be lost with out each other. They fit in with my family from the start. It only took them about 2 weeks to train me, my husband and 2 kids. They know how to get what they want. They are both very cuddly and affectionate. It's like I have 4 kids now instead of 2. We love them dearly.

Hi. I adopted a kitten in October...her name was Clair, but we changed it to Gracie. I just wanted to let you know that she is such a sweetheart. She has been spayed and declawed...and we absolutley love having her with us. She is on my lap right now as I type this...she likes watching the computer screen! Best wishes for the holidays...and I hope some of your pets finds new homes soon!

Just wanted to drop a note to let you know how Patches (the dal/greyhound mix) is doing. We shortened his name to the slightly less cliche, slightly more masculine Patch, which he seems to appreciate. Our dog Samson (also a dal mix from your shelter) and Patch get along great! It seems like Patch was just waiting for our family. The kids adore him. As I type, he is upstairs sleeping with my son. Altho he came to us with a few small behavioral problems, he is doing great with obedience training. After a scare when he backed out of his collar, we really started working with him to prevent anything like that happening in the future. Overall he is a very smart, loyal, loving dog. In the few short weeks he has been here he has learned quite a few new skills....including stepping on the pedal to open the trash can! He can now heel, sit, stay, down, wait, get it and drop it to a good degree.... and is working on catch (I think his long nose gets in the way!). We are still working on come, and some other "good manner" type things. We hope that he will be fully trained by the summer so we can resume walks to the park. He is so eager to please and so happy to get positive feedback, he is really easy to teach. I hope that the people who gave him up see this and know their wonderful, happy dog went to a (in our opinion) nice home, just in time for the holidays :) Hope to be by sometime soon again with some more treats for the pooches. Keep up the great work!

A little over two years ago, we adopted Toby from your shelter. Though he wasn't what we expected to get when drove 2 1/2 hours to your shelter from our home in NJ, he quickly became a loved member of the family, which includes another dog and two cats.
Everyone comments about his exceptional good looks - he truly is a striking dog - and his great affection once he gets to know you - he's got an amazing, loving nature, and loves to snuggle as close as possible :)
We just started taking him to obedience classes in New York (he's one of the top dogs!), with plans to take him to agility classes in the near future. Mind you, he was always well-behaved, we just thought the class interaction would be a good reinforcer and introducation to the agility classes. We are sure he will love it, as he loves to run around the yard and jump over and weave in and out of the bushes surrounding the house.
Thank you so much for saving Toby from the difficult life he had in his first year, and for selecting him for us. Thank you, as well, for all that you do for the animals in your surrounding communities.

We want to thank all of the volunteers and workers at the Hillside SPCA for giving us the opportunity to adopt Kaya. She had a short life with us but will forever hold a place in our hearts--she was a gentle soul. She will be missed.

We adopted one of the 14 cruelty case dogs that were surrendered to you. Her name was Thyme, but we renamed her Tobey. She is still scared but is starting to come around more. We hope that someone gives Clarice and Dill the same chance at a good home. These dogs make great pets. They appreciate your home so much. Keep up the good work at the shelter!!!

I adopted a shephard/lab mix from you 7 years ago and I don't know what I would do without her. She turned out to be a very loving and loyal dog. It breaks my heart to read all the sad stories about the strays that are being turned in. I am thinking about volunteering some of my time at the shelter as I just love all animals. A little love and affection goes a long way!!!!

We adopted Mercedes, now known as Penny, on October 7th and I want to thank you for chosing the perfect dog for our family. She has the most beautiful, loving brown eyes and her fur is so soft and shiny. But most of all we love her and she loves us. Thank you for loving these pets until we get there to adopt them.

I adopted Abigal many years ago. We found her almost frozen in one of the worst snow storms to hit Schuykill County. She still had the SPCA tag around her neck although it turned out to be the wrong tag! At any rate, I returned her to the SPCA and commented what a SWEET dog she was. I was asked if I wanted her because for obvious reasons she was not being returned to the previous owner it seems she was left to fend for herself more than once. It is many years later and Abigal and I have been through a lot together, the loss of a family member, serious illness, etc. Now, Abigal has been diagnosed with a heart problem. I sought the best veterniary care possible and she is getting back to wanting to play and walk. She is monitored all day once a month at the vets to make sure the medication is doing the job. She loves going to the vet. Now that Abigal is a "senior" with a heart problem, she is never left alone during the day while I work. She goes with a dear friend every morning (who has a young male dog) and I pick her up every evening when I come home. I am thankful each day for such a wonderful companion. Weekends are ours together. Unfortunately, we do not know Abbey's exact age but we do know she is at least 11 now and perhaps older. I have had many wonderful dogs since childhood but she is one of the sweetest. It was indeed fate that she came to our door during that snow storm.

In September, we adopted one of the 14 dogs that were brought in from a cruelty case. Her name was Thyme but we renamed her Tobey. She was so scared that she hid her eyes the first couple of days. She has been progressing into the most lovable dog you could ever want! We are so glad that we adopted her. I hope Chloe and her brother are adopted also because they need a chance to show their love to a someone too. Keep up the good work that you do at the shelter.

I'm sad to hear that you guys are so severly over crowded. I really wish I could help, but I have 4 dogs already and there are alot of people allergic to cats that live with me. Just keep up the good work. I'll pass the word around about you guys to see if I can get any people that are looking for an animal to go to your shelter. You guys have such a big heart and even though if things don't work out, I will always know that you guys tried your hardest to save those animals and to find them good forever homes. Thanx again
