The Importance of Donating Supplies All Year Long

Even in November, kittens still need our care, and our shelves are running low. While most people associate “kitten season” with springtime, the reality at Hillside SPCA tells a very different story. As the year draws to a close, we find ourselves caring for multiple kittens under eight weeks old — something we never expected this late in the year.

Our dedicated staff members have graciously opened their hearts and homes to provide around-the-clock care for these tiny babies. From feeding every few hours to keeping them warm and safe, their devotion ensures each kitten has the best possible chance at survival. But as you can imagine, our supplies are dwindling quickly.

Nothing in a shelter is normal anymore. Adoptions are down, donations have slowed, and every shelter we know is full. That is why donating supplies all year long is more important than ever. Every can of food, every container of kitten formula, every blanket, and every dollar helps us continue our mission when the unexpected happens…even in November.

The rising cost of living has made it harder for everyone to give, but your continued generosity truly keeps our doors open and our animals safe. If you can help in any way, through donations, wish-list items, or simply sharing our needs, please know it is deeply appreciated.

We remain endlessly grateful to our compassionate supporters who never fail to answer our calls for help. You make it possible for us to continue providing care to animals who have nowhere else to go.

A gentle reminder, please, spay and neuter your pets. It is the only way to reduce overpopulation and prevent the endless cycle of unwanted litters. Together, we can make a lasting difference one animal at a time.
